Rural search operations can be some of the most dangerous operations a tactical element may be asked to undertake. This course is designed to integrate all available assets (K9, SUAS, Air Assets, etc.) into tactical, rural searching operations. The goal of this course is to educate tactical team members, K9 handlers, SUAS operators and all other personnel with capabilities that may be tasked with supporting these types of operations how they can effectively work together to enhance operator safety and increase the likelihood of a successful outcome.

GOALS & OBJECTIVES

  • To identify the utilization of specialty assets within the team (K9, SUAS, Air Assets, Distraction Devices, etc.)
  • To identify the capabilities of a canine team during tracking/area search operations.
  • To identify the different types of search patterns a K9 team may utilize and when to apply them.
  • To identify the different team formations utilized during a tactical track or search.
  • To identify actions on objective once a suspect position has been located.
  • To identify immediate action drills utilized to respond to unexpected contact.
